Language Development
Children of this age enjoys asking "Why?" repeatedly. We at Vidyansh, embrace this stage of wonder and aim to develop the language skills. All children deserve a strong start. Early childhood is crucial to later success in school and in life. Research indicates that children starting third grade struggling to read and write never catch up with their age-appropriate peers and continue to fail in high school (Snow 1998).
The classic study of Catherine Snow, Susan Burns, and Peg Griffin (1998) suggests that when their teachers concentrate on these fundamental areas of literacy growth, young children grow into good readers and writers:
- Alphabet letter knowledge/letter recognition
- Phonological (including phonemic) awareness
- Letter–sound correspondence (phonics)
- Concepts about print and books
- Oral comprehension and vocabulary (listening and speaking, receptive and expressive language)
At Vidyansh, we have created our curriculum based on scientific research and we have designed the program with a human touch. The best way to promote the growth of your child's speech and language is to speak a lot together about things your child is interested in. It's all about waving, pointing, babbling or using words to show you what they're interested in. We have created this program to involve parents and teachers for a stronger foundation in the child’s literary development.
